Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Traditional Permanent Makeup and Microblading?

Traditional permanent makeup is done using a cosmetic tattoo machine. It is a device that looks similar to a pen.

The eyebrow microblading method is the most popular technique for brow enhancement today. It's also known as Eyebrow Micro-strokes, Eyebrow Embroidery, 3D Hair Strokes and Feathering. These are the most requested techniques in achieving beautiful subtle brows by creating fine hair strokes that simulate the look of natural hair using a special manual tool. This helps to define and fill in sparse or thin areas of the brow, leaving a completely natural looking appearance of fine hairs, where as the traditional method gives more of a solid look which gives the illusion of wearing makeup

Who benefits from permanent makeup?

EVERYONE, Men as well as for Women, from the young to the elderly, who desires a soft, natural enhancement to their appearance. It is especially beneficial to people who can't wear other cosmetics due to allergies and skin sensitivities; Active people who want to look their best for activities such as swimming, hiking, biking, gym, tennis, aerobics, and those who don't want to worry about "sweating off" or reapplying cosmetics. Also the vision impaired who have difficulty applying their cosmetics, and others with motor impairments such as arthritis, Parkinson disease, multiple sclerosis, stroke survivors, and those with unsteady hands who cannot apply their own makeup, and busy people who don't have time to spend on their makeup.

What type of Permanent Cosmetic Procedures can be done?

Options include: Eyebrows, Eyeliner (top and Bottom eyeliner), Full Lip Color, Lip liner, & Blend Scar Camouflage (Vitiligo and surgical scars), Beauty Marks, Scalp (Hair imitation), Lash Enhancement, and Areola/ Nipple Re-pigmentation.

Are your pigments safe?

Yes it is safe. Our pigments contain Iron Oxides and they are the safest pigments. These ingredients are regulated, approved by the FDA and U.S. federal government.

Allergic reactions are rare. However, a sensitivity (patch) test can also be provided during the initial consultation. This involves placing a tiny amount of pigment on the skin to check for any sensitivity or reaction.

Other brands of pigments boast to have organic compounds, but orgainic is not always the best choice. Allergies can be more common in organic substances. Some people are allergic to vegetable dye, and pigments with vegetable dye are not stable. Some brands even use industrial colors similar to automobile paint! This can be dangerous and can cause an allergic reaction.

How long does it take to have the Eyebrow Microblading Procedure & how long is the recovery?

The initial procedure generally takes 1-2 hours. Touch up procedures do not require as much time. Often, for eyebrows, the longest part of the appointment is usually the consultation and deciding on the brow shape. Once the client is 100% happy with the shape and given the approval, the tattooing procedure can begin. After the procedure is complete, it is vital to keep the area dry up to a week. Scabs will start to form after a few days and will eventually flake off on its own after a week. Eyebrows usually take between 3-4 weeks to fully heal. Remember, patience is the key, in order to achieve beautiful results.

Will I feel anything?

Depending on the type of procedure and It varies between person to person. A numbing cream is used to numb the treatment area. Some clients may experience a scratching/ tickling sensation and others may feel some slight discomfort and a stinging sensation. This may vary according to each individual's pain threshold. most people experience a little discomfort during the first 5-10 minutes of the treatment, but once the area has been numbed effectively, you will hardly feel a thing.

There are different methods available to help with pain management, including various topical anesthetic ointments, anesthetic locals and nerve blocks for the lip (administered by a doctor or dentist). We will discuss these methods with you to determine which one suits you best during your consultation.

Why does Permanent Makeup fade and body tattoos don't?

First of all, permanent cosmetics are a form of cosmetic tattooing and should be thought of as being “permanent”, the same as one thinks about traditional tattoos on the body. Traditional body tattoos do fade, however, generally at a slower rate due to several different factors. For instance, body art is generally covered up with clothing most of the year and is not excessively exposed to the UV rays which fade cosmetic tattoos on the face. Also, the skin on the body is much more dense as compared to facial skin, which is much thinner and again, influencing the degree of color retention. Listed are some other factors which cause permanent makeup to fade: body chemistry; cellular turnover - rejuvenation, etc; anti-aging products applied directly over the permanent makeup, face peels, frequently exfoliating, exposing to strong chemicals such as chlorine in swimming pools, saunas; choice of color applied (i.e., lighter colors will fade quicker than darker colors); and exposure to sunlight (hence the suggestion of wearing an SPF over your permanent makeup).

It is advised to come back for a color boost from time to time to brighten and help maintain the color.

If I decide to have my eyebrows done, could I go back to work straight after?

Yes. Most clients show little sign of swelling or redness after treatment. The color will be quite dark at first but not too conspicuous.  Once the scabs have fallen off, the color will soften and lighten after 2 weeks.

Is there a risk of infection?

There is a minimal risk of infection as strict hygiene standards are maintained within the clinic. All machine components and sterile needles are from sealed packets and are disposed after each single use. To prevent cross contamination, the technician wears sterile gloves. An antibiotic cream is applied to the skin after treatment. Strict after care instructions are provided to the client at the end of each session to take home with them. If these rules are not followed correctly there is a possible chance of an infection. If you have any questions, please make sure you ask the technician before you leave the clinic.

Who should not have permanent makeup?

Permanent makeup is NOT recommended for those who are or have:

  • Pregnant or nursing

  • Diabetic

  • Chemotherapy (consult your doctor)

  • Viral infections and/or diseases

  • Epilepsy

  • Pacemaker or major heart problems

  • Organ transplant

  • Skin irritations or Psoriasis near the treated area (rashes, sunburn, acne, etc.)

  • Sick (cold, flu, etc.)

  • Botox in the past 2 months

  • Accutane in the past year

Can Permanent Makeup be removed?

Yes, but only by an experienced technician who has advanced skills. Today, laser removal is popular but it can be expensive and results may not always be satisfactory. Old faded or asymmetrical tattoos even purple, blue, orange, pink brow, blue eyeliner or blue lip can all be corrected or removed by using  our safe specialized method. A color lift solution is used to safely lift out the unwanted pigment from the skin without leaving any scars. This method has proven to be less painful in comparison to laser.

I have Eyelash Extensions in, can I have Semi-Permanent Eyeliner?

If you already have eyelash extension in, you must have your eyelash extensions removed a few days prior to your eyeliner procedure. It is then important to wait approximately 4 weeks for complete healing to occur  before you can reapply your eyelash extensions.
