3D Nipple & Areola Restoration
London cosmetic clinic provides procedures for breast cancer survivors who have had either a bilateral or unilateral mastectomy. Even if you have lost your entire areola and nipple, we can perform a procedure which creates a realistic areola and nipple that is 3D in appearance. This procedure is known by a variety of names it is often referred to as areola re-pigmentation, areola recoloring, or areola simulation. This form of tattooing requires advanced education, training, and experience to create a realistic solution for clients.
The areola is the area of the breast surrounding the nipple. It is made up of slightly darker and thicker skin. This area provides a natural focal point to the breast. This can help in drawing attention away from lingering scars from a mastectomy and subsequent reconstructive surgery. This procedure also benefits women who were not candidates for a nipple sparing mastectomy or had the procedure done before such techniques existed.
It does not matter if you did not receive any reconstructive nipple surgery.
We can be completely recreate your areola and nipple. We work hard to create a look that delivers realistic results. In the case of unilateral mastectomy, we can match the existing nipple and areola with the correct pigments. This will give a balanced and uniform appearance. Corrections can also be made in the event of pigment loss or scarring left behind from any breast lifts or other augmentation.
Clients have reported that they feel the procedure helped them emotionally heal as they felt restored, whole and complete.
A woman’s self-image can depend on the appearance of the areas that make her a woman. Many women feel incomplete after a mastectomy. Despite being declared cancer free many women feel as though something is missing after surgery. Some women turn to silicone prosthetic nipples to give them a more natural feel and appearance. This is not a permanent solution. This procedure is a permanent solution allowing closure and the ability to put the ordeal behind you. Our clients who undergo this treatment report improvements in their self-esteem and that this was the last part of the recovery process, allowing them to move on from the cancer and forward with their lives.
Even if you have underwent a Nipple Sparing Mastectomy, you may be left with post-surgical scarring around the areola area. These scars can be camouflaged through the introduction of pigmentation through paramedical tattooing. This can greatly reduce the appearance of these scars and give a more natural look to the entire breast.
We now offer this at our clinic through a process known as paramedical tattooing. Please call our clinic 1.818.697.0802 or Schedule Online to book your FREE consultation.
Paramedical tattooing can recreate the entire nipple area. Various color pigments can be injected into the skin and cosmetic tattooing techniques can provide dimensional shading and contouring effects to create a realistic appearance. This can be achieved whether or not your surgeon created a “nipple button” as part of the reconstruction.
Other clients choose this procedure to balance out areola areas that they feel have faded due to aging or other skin conditions. You may feel that your natural areola is too small or light in appearance. These perceived imperfections can be corrected by our technician giving you more confidence.
Who is Suitable?
This procedure is suitable for those who wish to further heal and recover from unilateral and bilateral mastectomy surgeries. It is also suitable for those with excess scarring and damage from prior breast augmentation procedures. Other candidates include women or men who are not happy with this area of their bodies. This procedure is not as invasive as other treatments and recovery time is considerably less. If you are recovering from a mastectomy you will want to get your doctor’s clearance before proceeding with treatment. This is generally 3 to 4 months after any reconstructive surgery.
What to Expect at the Consultation
The Client is given a release form to complete and sign.
The Technician goes through the form and checks if client is a good candidate for the procedure selected.
If the client is a good candidate, the technician will then explain the procedure to the client so the client knows what to expect.
The Technician will answer all questions to put the client's concerns at ease. At this point, the client can decide whether to continue on with the procedure or if they would prefer to reschedule the procedure for another day.
What to Expect During the Procedure
The area of the body being treated is cleaned with a disinfectant to ensure the most sterile environment possible.
A topical numbing cream is applied to the treatment area and allowed to work for 30 minutes.

The dermal layer of the skin is treated using a cosmetic tattoo machine (a device that looks similar to a pen). Many clients describe the procedure as being a scratching or tingling sensation with discomfort being minimal.
After the procedure, Aloe Vera and Bacitracin ointment is applied to help soothe and protect the area from infection.
